Weekly goings on

Another lovely week in Lodge House. At the beginning of last week, we gave all the girls in the House a golden Bee pin badge to mark their joining of the house. This is a great way to show unity of the girls and hopefully something they can cherish for years to come. I hope they enjoy having their bee pin badges on their blazers and feel like this is an important time where we have made history. The bees were bought from Macmillan Cancer Support and all profit from the purchase of the bees went to the charity.

Last weekend, the Boat Club Dinner took place were members of the club got together to reminisce on the success of the season and to look forward to what is to come! Awards were given to a number of pupils for their improvement, dedication to the club, and their success. A number of Lodge House girls won The Crew of The Year trophy due to their hard work, determination and unfaultable spirit and support of one another. Well done to Natalie, Amy, Rosie, Freya and Grace (Yr 11).

Last weekend also saw the prestigious Great North Run take place. Our very own Mrs Black took part in the event and although she did have a bit of strange walking style on Monday, she was still wearing her usual big smile! Well done Mrs Black – a fabulous inspiration for our girls.

With being two short weeks into this role, I have already started to get to know the girls and find out different things about them. I have been so delighted with the all the talking, dancing, singing, planning, drawing, excitement and support for one another, along with getting to know the girls' talents and interests. I've heard about dance competitions, seen marvellous drawings, and learnt that we have a drummer in our midst! We are not far away from having a Lodge House rock band and I wouldn't put it past us! Please do make sure you let me know of any experiences, talents or hobbies – we would love to hear about them.

This morning, we marked the beginning of Lodge House in a unique and creative way. Each member of Lodge House placed a yellow, inky thumb print on a canvas to create a buzzing beehive image. Have a look and see what you think of our house creativity and unity!

Lady of Lodge

This week's Lady of Lodge goes to Natalie Y (Yr 11) who was reportedly 'very welcoming and supportive for the younger kids' at Removes Rowing club. She even ventured into a boat full of first-timers. If that's not brave – I don't know what is! Well done Natalie for showing not only bravery, but kindness and patience.
