With the school and choir term now in full swing, it's been nice to see the Choristers settling into new classes and new environments. One thing I love about the Choristers is how they look out for each other, both in and out of the Cathedral which has helped with this. Next week the Cathedral are hosting the Precentors Conference, and on Monday Evensong will be sung just by the Choristers. I look forward to giving you an update on that next week. Most of the services our Choristers sing in are live-streamed on the Cathedral's YouTube channel, so if you're not able to attend in person you can still take part: http://www.youtube.com/@durhamcathedral1093 One service this week was of particular note - On Tuesday Night we helped welcome a piece of history to the Cathedral at the dedication of the Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible. The Saint John's Bible, the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine monastery in over 500 years, is a stunning blend of art and faith. Crafted by master calligraphers and artists, it brings the power of scripture to life through vibrant imagery and exquisite detail. Durham Cathedral received one of only 299 copies of the 7-volume Heritage Edition, each printed on 100% uncoated cotton paper and bound by hand. For our pupils, staff, and everyone present, it was a truly memorable service. Miss H Cook |
