END OF TERM

Wow! The year as all of a sudden come to an end following a frantic and fun Activities Week. The girls have been busy both on and off-site, enjoying various challenges and trips. It has been wonderful to see such a mix of opportunities for the girls to enjoy.

Charity Round Up

In total, we raised £1798 for the Winnie Mabaso Foundation from our numerous bake sales and charity events. Thank you for all your support and contributions. We look forward to raising more money next year.

Sports Day

Sports Day saw the usual bubbly atmosphere in the House and even more so as we made our way to Top Ground with a giant speaker blaring out motivational songs to get us ready to compete. The girls all tried hard in their events and showed true MacLeod spirit by stepping up and giving it their all; the green face paint obviously helped! Overall, wins in the U15 and U18 competitions set us up for a tense wait for the final results and astonishingly, over all of the track and field events, we drew with Pimlico! In a never before seen result, the spoils were shared. The rapid team of Mrs Gowland, Mrs Swan, Miss Hasting and I were victorious over Pimlico in the staff relay so I am taking that as the overall win too!

House BBQ

This year's House BBQ was American-themed as it fell on the Fourth of July. All the girls channelled all things USA: from cheerleaders, cowgirls, sports jerseys and more! The Year 12 girls created and imaginative quiz for us all to enjoy with mixed year group teams which really tuned into a competitive affair! It was lovely to see all the girls let off some steam at the end of the year and to say a find farewell to some of the girls and staff who have given so much to MacLeod over the years.

As is now tradition, we have two special awards at the end of the year. The first is the MacLeod Head of House Cup which will be presented by the outgoing Head of House to the incoming Head of House, so this year it will be awarded to Caitlin. The final award is called the Hold Fast Cup – Spirit of MacLeod, this is awarded to a member of the House who embodies everything we stand for; is caring, gets involved in house events, offers to help staff and pupils, is generally courteous and supportive and sets the right example for others to follow. This year it is awarded to Maddy H in Year 13.

Thanks and Departures

Huge thanks to the outgoing Year 13 girls who depart us with our very best wishes for the furture. My special thanks to Claudia, our Head of House from this last year, who has lead the girls with enthusiasm and passion. She hands over to Caitlin and her team of House Prefects in Year 12 who I have not doubt, will build on the great things Claudia has done and really put their own stamp on their roles next year. They have already done amazing things since Year 13 have been on study leave so next term is looking very bright indeed.

Miss Hastings and Dr Rowan departed our tutor team, moving to pastures new, and our wonderful matron, Sharon, has moved to Lodge House following many years of service to MacLeod. Our sincere thanks go to her and even though she is not officially still with us, we know she will be just across the road in The Caffinites or Lodge.

Finally, thanks go to the girls, parents and staff in MacLeod for another wonderful year. I could not ask for a more supportive environment and the spirit the girls show makes me incredibly proud to lead this group of young women. You are the GIRLS in GREEN!!

Hold Fast.
