Pimlico House

With self-belief and opportunities, progress is yours for the taking.

As the academic year comes to a close, it is hard to believe that this will be my last day in Pimlico House before I move across the road and we inevitably become rivals! The time I have had in the House has been so special and I leave with many memories, from day-to-day chats with the girls, evening duties putting the world to rights with Matron, and celebrating all the successes of the girls whilst helping them figure out the world and becoming the best versions of themselves. I have thoroughly enjoyed being in Pimlico House and even more so Deputy Housemistress. My door has very much been open since the day I started in this position and I am grateful to everyone who has come in to have a chat, shared worries and successes, and made me feel truly part of a wonderful team.

As you would expect, House competitions have been a highlight, especially seeing the girls push themselves, come out of their comfort zones, and really embrace the competitions, win or lose. It has been a pleasure to witness the House win House Music three years in a row and I congratulate them on their determination and composure during these competitions. Most recently, it has been sports day and WOW our girls can run, throw and jump! There were some notable performances on the track, some personal surprises, and realisation of new skills. The girls were brilliant at supporting each other and cheer on the staff that took part in the relay at the end of the morning. A fabulous way to end the year and a lovely memory I will look back on.

Pimlico House is a homely, buzzing, and happy place and I hope to hear of its continuation in this way, as well as all the success that I know will come to the girls. Miss Hinde has created a homely and comforting atmosphere for the girls where support and a sense of belonging are at the epicentre. The tutor team have been fundamental in creating this and I am grateful for the big smiles, comradery, support, and generosity of them all – we have been a great team and I know they will continue with this loyalty to Pimlico and the girls. I would like to take this moment to thank Miss Hinde and all the tutors for being so genuine, caring and supportive – it has been a privilege to work with such a fabulous group of people!

There really is a true sense of unity and pride within the House and I hope that I can take some of this across the road. One thing I truly love about the House is how everyone is personable and takes the time to chat to each other and listen. Whether it is Jo and Tracy, the cleaners, Matron, or teachers and support staff, the girls will take time to talk to the whole community of people and this sense of togetherness is really special.

Being Deputy Housemistress has been a challenging and fulfilling experience and one which has prepared me for my next chapter. So, I leave very thankful for the time in the Pimlico and echo my long-standing belief that to truly succeed, the girls must be strong, resilient, take all the opportunities that are available to them and most importantly, be kind.
