Poole House
Friday, 28 June 2024

As we enter the last week of term and the celebrations begin to take place, the excitement levels of the boys (and staff) have begun to rise. It has been yet another brilliant week in the House, especially as the weather has eventually improved.

This week we have been fortunate to see a lot of Cricket and we have had many involvements in the 1st XI and under-17 squads again. Well done to William W, Harry F and Declan B.

On Wednesday we were treated to the incredibly successful Year 7 science fair, where our pupils showcased their outstanding scientific experiments. Well done to all the boys involved; it is clear you have been working extremely hard.

Mrs Melville took her year 10 tutor group out for their end of year meal and the boys had a wonderful time, thank you to Mrs Melville for all that you do for us.

On Tuesday of this week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the incoming Year 7 cohort into school and showing them around the House. It is remarkable how quickly this year has gone, and we look forward to seeing the new Pooleites getting stuck into everything in September. I must thank the Year 12 boys who organised the team-building activities and looked after our new pupils all day.

As I write this, the House is getting ready to compete in the school Sports Day. There is much excitement, and we are looking forward to having a brilliant time.

Last week we had a report from James C (Year 11) highlighting the success of the seniors in the recent Chadeyron music competition. In addition to this we have had further success, and the following report is written By Sebastian W (Year 8)

“The intermediate and elementary
Chadeyron competitions took place on Tuesday 18th June, and it was a great day featuring all different kinds of instruments and styles. It was great to watch and see everyone play. Everyone tried their best and had clearly been working very hard on their pieces. There was also another section which took place on Thursday 20th June which was the advanced section. I wasn’t there to see it, but I hear there were some very good performances. Looking forward for next year’s competition.”

What Sebastian had not mentioned is that he won the intermediate section, Well done Sebastian, what an incredible achievement, we are extremely proud of you.
