From the Cathedral Choristers
Friday, 11 October 2024

Last Friday we welcomed into school former Durham Cathedral Chorister Olly Quinn from the band Dear Alice as featured on the BBC show. He met with former teachers and some current Choristers to discuss his time at the school and Cathedral. Clips of this day were featured on BBC Look North East and Cumbria. It was heartwarming to hear how the school and Cathedral will always have a place in his heart.

Girls weekend was a success with a trip to InflateSpace with Mlle Debil. The girls were, as always, grateful to her for planning the trip. Saturday night was a film night watching the classic "Charlotte's Web", before singing in three services on the Sunday.

To mark International Chorister Day we had a special assembly at the Cathedral site where we looked at "What makes a Durham Cathedral Chorister special?" Our Choristers delighted us with a performance of "King of Glory, King of Peace" which captured the whole assembly halls attention and a round of applause at the end.

I'm already looking for a time to do an assembly next term to highlight what our Choristers take part in during Holy Week. At the end of the assembly they had messages of support from some of the boys from Dear Alice which was a nice surprise. This weekend sees the Foundation Open Morning where we may meet Choristers of the future, and a concert for the Durham Cathedral Choir Association as a thank you for their support over the last year. https://durhamcathedralchoirassociation.org.uk
