Fortuitously, given the torrents of rain that saw us through the earlier part of the week, there has been much of interest lately indoors as well as out. International Chorister Day on Monday showcased the immense talent of our years 7 and 8 Chorister girls and I particularly enjoyed watching a performance given by them and their fellow singers, relayed on video via Teams.

From Choristers to the Cathedral itself and a group of GCSE Art students enjoyed their Wednesday evening visit to Luxmuralis. This sounds like a far more interesting coursework project than any I ever undertook, but perhaps that's because I failed to choose Art all those years ago. We live and learn! My colleagues in Art must have been busy this week as they also took a number of creative arts students to Newcastle. I trust that May F, Maggie Y and Zene T came back suitably inspired from the DT, Photography and Art scene of the Metropolis.

Although both Jasmine M and Diana M described it as 'stressful', I could tell that they had nonetheless enjoyed their Drama assessment on Tuesday night. The twinkle of an eye belies the words of the mouth and they and Esme were happy with the performance and deserved the subsequent praise. Diana even received a bouquet of flowers from one particular fan that evening. So theatrical! Again, I ruefully bemoan my choice of GCSEs.

Whilst the rain may have prevented a few hockey matches last week, the deluge happened after the Tees Regatta. Opting out wasn't an option for Capucine P and Bel C as the long day saw them battle against the wind, a strong opposition and choppy water from sunrise to set. Well done to Bel for winning her single: This was certainly worth applauding, along with Clemmie's 18 lauds, in our 'Celebration Friday' today.

As House hockey takes place in the final week of our half term, we hope for pleasant autumnal conditions, a lot of fun and, of course, a willing spirit from everyone. As I always say and repeat here, to say "yes" and to fill the gaps in a team is always more important than raw skill. I hope girls step forward for our teams next week with a sense of responsibility.

The half term break will soon be upon us, so please can I remind you of the need to arrange collection by 16.30 on Friday 18th October? The House will close and the school buses will leave at this time. Boarders may arrive back at 16.00 on Sunday 3rd November. Equally, please note that day studies must be emptied for a deep clean and boarders' rooms must be left with everything locked away. I would very much appreciate your support in helping girls organise themselves to this effect. Thank you.

Enjoy your weekend.

A Saturday night pamper and good food event in Pimlico

Success on the Tees. Well done to Bel C!
