Drama The absolute legend that is Zac H (Year 12) has been cast in a movie!!!! Following a series of auditions and interviews, Zac has been chosen to feature in a movie directed by Molly Manners. This is an exceptional achievement and we are so, so proud of him. Good things really do happen to good people (who work immensely hard and are dedicated to their craft, of course). Sports Block fixtures for U13s yesterday against the always strong RGS. A brilliant game for the As (5-5) saw James H, Kai A, Robbie S, Evan O, Ethan B and Harry D all fronting up and playing brilliantly. The 1st XV navigated a potentially tricky National Cup tie away at Barnard Castle earlier in the week with Bungites represented by Charlie H, Andrew S, Fergus F, Dan C, Jackson M and George F. The boys travel to Ampleforth this weekend to compete for The Noel Shearing Cup and we wish them well. Our oarsman are in action at Tees Regatta tomorrow with the boat club looking to build on some solid outings recently. Special shout out to Jason W who, along with Ellie H, has raised a significant amount money for Bone Cancer Research by rowing over 100km in September. House Music Our Part Song has been selected and rehearsals have began. Early signs are very promising! Our House Unison is moving forward (I wouldn't say at pace) and i am hopeful that once the words are learnt, the boys will add some slightly higher notes than our default G7 (Tim Storms would be proud). Academic Lauds have been awarded to: Kayode A, Joseph W, Kanishk S, Vincent H, Jesse E, Thomas X, Martin B, Alex C, Jack C, Rory J, James S, Marcus H, Max H, Robbie S, James H, Lucas F, Sam F, Matthew B, Arthur T, Louie W, Hayden W, Archie S, Adam A, Emile B, Hongyi L, Jonny M, Evan M, Louie M, Mustafa H, Matthew W, Will G, Miles F, Harry D, Tom R, Leo H Leaderboard Kanishk S - 15 Charity Information will be coming out in the next couple of weeks as we prepare our month of Movember fundraining. For very obvious reasons, the causes supported by Movember are very close to our hearts with the charity doing incredible work to support Men's mental and physical health. Boarding Our boarders enjoyed a trip to the coast last weekend and are off to the Theatre this evening to watch Othello. End of term plans are starting to be drawn so please keep an eye out for house opening and closing times. Housekeeping The boys seem to be developing a habit of dropping their bags (anywhere) at the scent of food which is leading to a lot of emails and claims of lost/stolen kit. I have told the boys where they need to look should kit go missing and anything we have gets returned to the rightful owner. Many thanks to those parents and guardians who have needed to come into the house for waiting for a member of staff before entering- this is really important and something I am grateful for. To end, I want to thank you for your efforts in giving the boys 'a gentle push' during what must have been a busy and, for some, anxious start to term. resilience is something that is very difficult to teach but by giving the boys a nudge it is amazing what they can push through and achieve. I wish you all a very restful weekend. Mr Mark Younger |
