The Caffinites

This week has seen many of the boys involved in an array of different activities, ranging from rowing beach sprints to first team rugby debuts.

Zack H has been working tirelessly to achieve selection for England at the Home Countries International event last week. His dream was realised when he won his category at the British Junior Championships in the summer and he received the call-up to represent England. The Home Countries event comprises the best Ireland, Scotland and Wales has to offer as the sport really gaining traction and popularity not only amongst rowers but also the Olympic movement. It may be an early call, but there may be a Hills in LA 2028…

There have been numerous rehearsals throughout the week lasting no longer than 10 minutes at a time and I'm pleased to say that definite progress is being made. Our song selection adheres perfectly to the criteria and our sound could definitely be classed as a work in progress (watch, or listen, to this space).

For the first time in four years, the entire foundation assembled for our collective photo opportunity. Not only was is a brilliant opportunity to gather the entire group in one place, it was great to see older pupils actively seeking out their old teachers from the early years to say hello.

Congratulations to Ajay E for his selection for the England Under 18 training camp on Saturday. I was privileged to watch some of the video from his head cam from the training session and I was impressed by the organization, care and feedback from the coaches as well as the way Ajay absorbed the advice- he was the only boy there from our region and definitely put on a good show.

There was plenty of boys from The Caffinites who represented the first team at rugby this week, with the highlight being an impressive display against Barnard Castle in the National Cup with a 24-3 victory.

The boys now progress to the next round where they will meet St. Peters.

Have a great weekend.

Mr. Thompson and Mr. McMillan.
