This week has been the NSPCC Kindness Challenge week, so naturally, the thought this week has very much been on the kindness we show in the house and to each other. To celebrate this, Lodge House has had a hot chocolate and cookie morning this morning, where the girls have enjoyed a warming cup of goodness and some biscuits (much needed in the horrible weather!). House time is so important to us and a great way to regroup at the end of a busy week, and to build house spirit - something I believe is vital in establishing, especially as a new house. With something nice to drink and a relaxed atmosphere, the girls really took up the opportunity to get to know one another and ask about each other's weeks and this was lovely to see. During this time, we also distributed our Notes of Kindness which the girls have been creating this week, with each member of the house writing a note to another, to brighten their day. We hope this small act of kindness brought smiles to the girls before they embark on their Friday at school. With a belly full of hot chocolate and biscuits, and a note of kindness in their pocket - I couldn't think of a better way to start the day! On Wednesday, the Year 7 girls had their social afterschool which consisted of pizza, popcorn and the film 'Sing', which was appropriately followed by an enthusiastic Karaoke session! As you may expect, there was a bit of cleaning up to do, but the 6th form pupils kindly stepped in to help; many thanks Niamh, Edie, Natalie and Bea. House Music rehearsals have started, and we have already had some positive comments from the attached boys house – long may this continue, and we build in confidence and volume. Being a much smaller house, we will be working hard on extra volume – we already have the smiles sorted . Part Song auditions also took place this week and I have to admit that I was tempted to listen at the door at the incredible talent that was being displayed – well done to all that auditioned; we are all very excited!! Lady of Lodge This week our Lady of Lodge goes to Alyssa, who helped an elderly lady who had fallen on the pavement. We are so proud to hear of her bravery and kindness, along with her natural reaction to want to help. Well done, Alyssa! Upcoming dates for your diary Thursday 10th October: Hello Yellow! To raise awareness for World Mental Health Day, we are going to stand together and wear yellow for YoungMinds. Girls are asked to wear something yellow in addition to their uniform – hair bobbles, jumpers, tights etc and bring in a donation of £1. We will also be doing a bake sale that day to raise more money for the charity. Monday 14th October: Year 10 + 11 social (Halloween themed crafts, cost £4) Monday 18th November: House Music in the Cathedral Monday 25th November: Year 8 and 9 Social (Christmas crafts) Other things to note: Please can we ask that parents do not drive round the back of Caffinites when dropping off/picking up their daughter(s) - this causes massive amounts of congestion. Thank you. If anyone has any craft donations for our Craft/Quiet Room we would gladly take these off your hands! Have a lovely weekend, all. Be Brave Mrs Beth Spence |
